We all know somebody who is viewed at school as
unpopular, ugly or even an outcast. It is easy to
stay busy witnessing to our friends in our own
circles, pretending that these other people just
aren't there. But the truth is, the person at our
school who is looked down on by others needs Jesus
just as badly as the folks we call our friends.
Don't be worried about what your friends will
think if they see you associating with someone who
is considered an outcast. Who knows - they may
even respect you more for it because you were
braver than they were!
Besides, you are in good company because Jesus
also associated with outcasts. He believed that
loving His neighbor meant sharing His love with
people regardless of the popularity He may or may
not have gained from the action.
But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked
Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" "Which of these
three do you think was a neighbor to the man who
fell into the hands of robbers?" The expert in the
law replied, "The one who had mercy on him" (Luke
10:29,36,37 NIV).
So go ahead, take a chance. Give Jesus to somebody
who isn't classified as "popular" or "cool," and
extend your circle of love.
