Why is everything on the TV so negative and violent. And what can I do about it?

So many people rip into the media, saying how biased and corrupt it is, and there is a lot of truth to that accusation. But I say that it is high time that we as Christians did something about it. If we aren't a part of the solution, then we are a part of the problem.

I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified (John 17:14-19, NIV).

But how can you survive spiritually in a world full of negative media messages? Well, you can't live in a bubble the rest of your life, but you can be careful about what you hear and see, refusing to feed your mind with ungodly programs that grieve your spirit. You can also be a part of the solution by standing up and supporting the kind of television programming you believe in.
