Do you know who Jesus really is?
If you’re reading this, you might be
wondering what this salvation business is all about. What does being a
Christian mean? Who is a child of God? We hear so many things that it is
hard to get a handle on what people are saying.
So let us look at what God is saying, not what people think he is
saying, just read what he says and forget everything else that you were
told. God said that he so loved the world that he sent his only begotten
son to die for our sins. So what does that mean? If Jesus died for
everyone, then why do we have to be a Christian or why do we have to do
anything? Shouldn’t everybody just go to heaven? Shouldn’t that be the
end of it?
Ok the first thing you need to know is that God will not force you to do
anything. We know religion tells you that you better not do this or God
will get you for that. Even on TV you see times when someone says
something wrong and then the loud sound of thunder and lightning goes
off, signifying that they better watch it or they will be in big
trouble. Right?
Well just think back on all the times you said something wrong or did
something wrong and you knew you did and didn’t care. Did you ever hear
thunder or lightning? Did the ceiling fall down on you? No! Why? Because
that is all nonsense. That is not the way God is. God gave man a free
will. He is not going to make you do anything.
Lets stop right here and explain what the word man means in the bible.
It is talking about the species of man, not man is good and woman is
second class. No, no it is talking about mankind. So if you are a woman
and read the word man in the bible, then you can say, hey that is
talking to me. Ok, Are we straight on that?
The free will that God gave to man means He always gives you a choice.
It is very important to God that, you choose Him or come to Him or
believe Him, of your own free will. Now I am sure you have heard that,
God is love. Right? And now you know that God wants you to choose him
readily of your own free will. So let me ask you this. Why, in the
world, would God or anybody do all those horrible things that religion
says he does and expects you to choose him, of your own free will.
If God loves you so much that he found a way to wipe out your sins, then
someone with that kind of love would only want to do good things for
you. Wouldn’t He?
God is not out to get you, if He was he would have all ready gotten you.
He is God almighty, He is all powerful, He could have gotten you in a
split second. But he didn’t, did He? No and he is not going to either.
Sure God is going to tell you the better way to do it like any parent
that wants to keep his kid from getting hit by a truck. But that is not
bad, is it?
Wouldn’t you want someone who loves you to warn you of impending danger?
That is all He does and then gives you the choice. Do you trust him or
don’t you. Do you think he loves you enough to tell you the truth or is
he just trying to manipulate you? That is a question you can only answer
as you get to know that person. Right? Not just from hearing stories
about someone from other people. That might be getting it form someone
else too. Then what? Both of you got the wrong information.
That is the way God is too. He doesn’t expect you to listen to him like
a dictator. He would like for you to get to know him and then you can
decide what he is all about. He created you as an individual with likes
and dislikes not a machine. You now have the opportunity to meet him and
get to know him.
Ok, so now you know that even though he fixed the problem of sin. He
still wants you to make that choice. Yes it is a free gift, but you can
take any gift and throw it on the floor, can't you? Do you really have
that gift then? No you threw it away. Then there are times when someone
gives you a gift and you say, oh gee I can't take that, that is too
nice, I don’t deserve that. Or how about. I just can't accept that from
you, it is far too expense and I am not worthy of that nice of a gift.
Right? Did you ever feel that way?
That is what some people do with this gift from God. They don’t accept
it and so they don’t have it. They wait till they have straighten up and
are more worthy of it. Well… man God is not asking you if you deserve it
or are worthy of it, he loves you and just wants you to have it. You
CAN'T earn it.
There are no conditions to it. God just thinks you would look good with
a new set of clothes, get rid of all that sin and guilt. He thinks you
would like to spend eternity in heaven. Why do you think Jesus died that
horrible death, so that you could spend forever in hell? Of course not.
He wouldn’t have to go through all that, cause you were going to hell by
yourself. He could have saved the trip, but He doesn’t want you to go to
hell.
Jesus said, I have come so that you may have life and have it more
abundantly. He sacrificed everything he had so you wouldn’t have to go,
but now it’s up to you. Does that sound like a mean religious God to
you? Forget about all the things you have done. I don’t care if you’re a
serial killer sitting in jail reading this. It doesn’t matter. Jesus
never told one person that they better straighten their act up or else.
And think about this , there isn't one person in Hell because they're
and thief, or a murderer, or any other sin you can think of. They are in
Hell because they didn't believe and confess Jesus as their Savior.
He came to give you one thing that was to give you a choice. Jesus said
if any man comes to me, I will in no way cast him out. Jesus is holding
out his hand to you right now, will you take it? You will be so glad you
did. That is all there is to it. You will then be able to now start your
abundant life too.
You are very precious to God, He want you to know him. Pray this prayer
with me.
Jesus I believe you died for MY sins. I believe you rose from the dead
and are seated at the right hand of God the father. I am truly sorry for
all the things that I have done. I thank you for loving me, even before
I knew you. I do not wish to be lead by Satan any longer. I make you
Jesus… the Lord of my life, come into my heart. Fill me to overflowing
with your Holy Spirit. I now believe I have been born again into the
family of God. I will thank you and praise you all the days of my life.
